I GOTTA DO WHAT?

I GOTTA DO WHAT?

TITLE: I GOTTA DO WHAT?

According to some, helping is just too much effort

The Research Science Society has developed an equation for helping.  Funny, I haven't heard anyone talking about it.

RED FLAG #1   -  ‘well it didn't make the news..’

Apparently helping is a trait characteristic of an apathetic or psychopathic person.  Part of that sentence is really creepy.  They wanted to find out how much effort someone will put in to help out a stranger.  Their findings are published in the Nature of Human Behavior mag.

RED-FLAG #2   -  ‘Is this legal?'
For the experiment, candidates had to squeeze a 'hand-held device'.  Squeeze to earn money for yourself.... and squeeze again to earn for a stranger.  The difference was measured by the professors.  To no surprise, everyone helped everyone out.  However, when the 'action' required more effort than expected the results were nothing short of disappointing.

RED FLAG #3    -  ‘just lay there ill give you some money'
Candidates who laid there earned money, but candidates that worked while they laid there earned much more...really?  first day?  First meeting!  I know what you're thinking, well how much?   fuck I don't know, probably monopoly money.  Point being, you could earn for a friend.  Strikingly, they found that your 'friend/lab partner'  was most likely to put in effort for his own pleasure, but a significantly lower amount of effort was put into your benefit.

RED FLAG #4   -  but you said I could come'
Study showed that even when participant decided to exert effort and 'help out a friends hand-held device' they did so with less enthusiasm and were 'rather superficial' than when they had exerted the effort for their own pleasure.  I checked to make sure I was on the right website.  Yup, Research Science Society.  Sounds like a sexual experiment smoothed over with big words from people with accreditations and stuff, but it wasn't.   Nope.  This was the real deal, top level shit.  A real American Scientific study.  Finally, the professionals have spoken.
MY findings:  any teenager could have told you that. Lets ask better questions, America, so we can get answers that we can rely on, grow from, and eventually be better in our relationships with the ones we love, especially the ones we don't even know.  because even when no one is around, a good deed makes a difference.
